School of Accountancy, Economics and FinanceI am an international economist specialising in international finance, international trade, and open macroeconomics. My research is strongly empirical and focuses on international capital flows, exchange rates, trade costs, and international consumption and income risk sharing. My recent work examines spatial consumption risk sharing, exchange rate predictability, and the role of trade costs and factor income flows in shaping cross-country and regional risk sharing. I have recently published in the European Economic Review (2025) on spatial consumption risk sharing, and in the International Economic Journal (2025) on income risk sharing between Korea and its regional partners. I earned my PhD in Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) in 2023.
I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Economics and Finance at Massey University. I currently teach Macroeconomics (178.200) at the undergraduate level and Research and Analytics in Economics and Finance (125.785) at the postgraduate level. My teaching philosophy emphasises empirical reasoning, data analysis, and the application of economic theory to real-world policy and financial questions, with a strong focus on modern econometric methods. Prior to joining Massey University, I taught a wide range of undergraduate courses at UCSC, including introductory and intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics, international trade, international finance, econometrics, and economic growth.
